Increased Safety for Water Skiers through Proper Ski Boat Accessories
One of the most popular water sports is water skiing. As you can imagine, there are many ski boat accessories on the market to help make things more enjoyable for both the skiers as well as those operating the boat. The basic equipment such as the actual ski's, the rope, and a life jacket is needed for every skier. However, there are some ski boat accessories that add to the fun but are only to be used by experienced skiers. A center mast for exactly can have the attached to it which will enable a pro skier to literally run rings around the boat. In addition to the skier, the boat operator should also have proper experience before performing these kinds of "stunts".An often overlooked ski boat accessory is a little ladder to help the waterskier get back onto the boat. Of course this is a matter of convenience but it can be a safety concern as well. I've seen people make some nasty slips and hurt themselves trying to get back onto various types of boats. Many ski boats come equipped with a rear deck to make exiting as well as entering the water easier, not everyone has one attached to their boat upon purchase. Ladders are also primarily limited to inboard motor boats as it tends to conflict with the motor placement on an outboard.
An accessory for you ski boat that can prevent your rope from becoming all tangled up are swivel clips. These are simply attached between your boat and rope but unfortunately not always come standard.
Another convenient but also safety feature is a rear-facing seat. This allows a spotter to keep their eye on the skier at all times. Should the skier fall and hit the water without anyone seeing it, the boat operator and spotter might find out way too late and end up threading the water for hours until they find the skier's bobbing head among the waves.
Safety is Essential with all Water Sports
No matter what type of ski boat accessories are mounted on your boat, be sure to carefully inspect them before every trip to the lake or sea. Clamps and cleats to hold the rope to the water can be worked loose due to the rigorous job they have. If the these snap loose while pulling a skier they could hit the skier head on or fly back and pummel someone in the boat itself. Unlike accessories designed for a fishing boat, ski boat accessories are specifically made for pulling people on the water at a much higher speeds.Last but not least, an organizational tip. Instead of creating possible hazards to others by having the water ski's or wake board lie loose in the boat, another one of the ski boat accessories many avid skiers use are racks that can stow the skis securely until used or after use. To reduce damage to the skis, these racks are coated with a protective finish and will keep them handy when needed or secured while traveling into the deeper parts of the sea or lake.
