Before you decide to book a particular fishing charter, there is some must know tips that ensure your charter goes as you plan. Lets take a look at how you can get the most from your charter trip, so you have the best time possible out fishing!

I often work for charter crews as a deck hand, and ive seen many charters over my years in the industry. I can share with you from experience, that each charter is what you make of it, and if you paying for the time, you want to maximise what you get out of it by being fully prepared! I also book and go on heaps of fishing charters each year, on many boats, as I ove going fishing with mates! Ive amassed a wealth of tips and tricks over the years, as an industry insider.

Before you embark, theres a good number of must do and must know details, that you should have sorted out before the boat leaves. Try and always make plans with the boats captain, because hes in charge!

*Departure, docking and fishing time, and where the boat leaves from. Berthing facilities are known to be confusing areas, so if you dont know it well, pop down the day before and sus out where the boat goes from, about 1 in every 3 trips I work on, leaves late because of the clients.

*Ensure you ask what gear you should bring, and what gear the boat provides. Tackle on charter boats can be sub standard, so ensure your boat has good quality gear that is well maintained and is suitable for the fish your targeting.

*Ask your captain how fast the boat cruises at, and how long you can expect to take getting to the fishing spots. Your charter fee is best spent on fishing time, not on travelling time!

These are just a sample of the secrets that my full fishing charter tips article contains, to see them all, visit my page Fishing Charters.

Fly fishing represents one of the oldest types of fishing ever to be employed by man in order to earn his meal. At first it applied especially to trout and salmon but nowadays it is also a basic way of catching bass, pike, carp and other fish that live in the oceans. The term was generated in relation to the fisherman’s lure consisting of a hook decorated to look like an insect for the purpose of getting fish to bite.

fly fishing

The instruments necessary for fly fishing are referred to as tackle, only that, when you want to be as specific as possible about the type of tools the addition of the word fly helps; so there you have fly tackle. The structure includes the artificial flies, the fly rod which throws the flies and the fly line. For an improved cast, the line should be a little heavier than other line varieties. Moreover, the artificial flies come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colors depending on the type of fish intended to be caught.

In general terms the materials the lures are made of include hair, feathers, fur and other fabrics that render the insect look necessary for the fly to pass as bait. Each fishing location requires that you choose a certain kind of artificial fly that will look like insects living in the area where your desired types of fish inhabit. Hence, the fly fishing methods used in one region may not work in another.

fly fishing reels

According to another fly classification, they can be attractive or imitative. The imitative artificial lures look like real insects while the attractive ones simply resort to color or reflection of light in order to attract fish without necessarily imitating the food fish are after. And yet another form of category splitting separates the artificial lures into dry models (imitating grasshoppers, dragonflies, etc. which float on-water), sub-surface designs that are just like pupae or larvae and wet kinds (imitating leeches and minnows).

saltwater fly fishing

The distinction between fly fishing and non-fly fishing is that the former depends a great deal on the weight of the line which is cast in order to get the artificial lure to that part of the water where your fish are located, probably at a farther distance from the shore or bank. On the other hand the non-fly fishing type, rather uses the lure weight rather than the line; as this variable makes it possible for the fly to get into deeper waters when the line is pulled down from the reel.

Bass fishing tips come in quite handy especially when you are a beginner. First of all, it would be a good thing to know that bass are fish whose metabolism depends on the temperature of water. Their metabolism accelerates as the temperature gets higher. When in cold deeper waters, they are lethargy and a reduced appetite.

bass fishing

Moreover, at the beginning of every year those interested in bass fishing start to be directed towards warm waters as bass tend to leave cold deep waters so they could spawn. Also, during fall bass start to move towards colder and deeper waters where they would be better off during the cold season. Yet fishermen should not expect them to cover distances too rapidly. The migration cycles from one place to another as the seasons change last for several months.

Also good to know when bass fishing is that these animals are social ones. Similar sized marine fish will tend to gather in schools. Therefore, should you get lucky and get a capture, be sure that there is more bass in the area to catch as long as you do not throw the dead caught fish back in the sea to panic the rest of the school.

bass fishing reports

In addition, bass fishing locations are not difficult to find. Bass prey on smaller fish, but they are not great hunters due to their slow motion features. They rather wait for the prey to come along and then strike. Sometimes, they feed on injured marine animals even though this kind of food might not be part of their regular menu. They normally eat frogs craw-fish, worms, minnows insects and so on. For an experienced fisherman, knowledge of the eating habits and the mating peculiarities is no secret.

On the other hand, these fish are prey themselves so they need cover as well. That is why bass fishing gets carried out in areas where they could find safety like small or big rocks, weeds and other shady or sunny well-lit areas where the eye makes it difficult for them to be spotted.

bass fishing tips

The choice of bait also influences the success of a bass fishing expedition. Thus, the seasons as well as the spawning cycle of the fish influence the choice of bait. Hence, those new to bass fishing should pay attention to more experienced anglers to learn the basic steps.

•    Shows. Cruise ships often book top performers to entertain their guests so you’re guaranteed to leave with a smile on your face if you take a seat at one of the on-board shows. Ask the staff around the ship for their recommendations and cruise reviews. They will know what is most popular and which ones you simply have to see.

When referring to nets, reels, baits, lines, rods, hooks, sinkers, spears and lures, anglers call them fishing tackle or fishing equipment. Some of these items belong to the fishing gear known as terminal tackle which usually covers snaps, sinkers, swivels and hooks.

fishing equipment

The word tackle referring to fishing equipment comes from ‘takel’ which designated the rigging of a ship, that is, the rope supports necessary for a ship's masts and sails. Later the same word was recorded to have a different meaning, that of apparatus for fishing and that meaning has been preserved ever since.

The most basic fishing equipment consists of a rod, a line, a hook, a lure, a bait and a sinker. The line consists of a basic cord manufactured according to a specific pattern to be both resistant and nearly invisible for fish. There are various things that an angler asks about when buying a fishing line such as resistance, stretch, strength and so on. The line will be chosen based on what kind of fish he/she intends to catch.

fly fishing equipment

The sinker, also called a plummet, is actually a weight that allows the fisherman to cast the line with the hook farther from the shore or the boat. Sinkers are usually made of lead as their purpose is also to sink and to get the bait closer to the fish in the water as fast as possible. However, the lead sinkers have been banned in some parts of the world especially if they are really small. If ingested by bird species or other fish, the sinker causes the death of the animal.

Another standard item of fishing equipment is the hook. The hook serves as a support for the bait and it gets stuck in the mouth of the fish. Hooks get attached to the line; and the fisherman can choose from a large array of shapes, sizes and materials.

bass fishing equipment

Last but not least, the fishing equipment cannot be efficient without bait or lure. The lure is a piece at the end of the line that resembles very much to prey both in movement and appearance. Its purpose is to catch the attention of the fish with its color, movement and vibrations. When the fish catches the lure, it gets hooked. Bait is the prey like element attached to the hook that works together with the lure for a successful catch. The bait can be either natural consisting in smaller fish, insects or crawlers or artificial, made of plastic or other material to lure the fish.

Sport fishing receives the best of definitions when contrasted to commercial fishing: we are talking abount an activity that demands nothing for the pleasure it gives in return. Profit making or survival issues have no share in sport fishing that remains totally devoted to leisure use.

sport fishing

Most frequently, all you need for sport fishing is a rod, a line, a reel, plenty of hooks and a wide variety of baits. Of course, there are more complex devices, called terminal tackle, that people use to enhance the impact on fish. Some common tackle items for commercial and sport fishing, swivels, weights and floats should be mentioned first. Sometimes, lures replace baits in basic practices, thus, sport fishing incorporates handcrafter applications as well as plastic artificial flies and imitations of crawlers.

Though a male occupation first and foremost, sport fishing has left room enough for women too. Some hobbyists feel frustrated about the way some issues are dealt with in the fishing circles and the big question refers to the lack of a clear sport purpose. Why fish if you are going to release the catch anyway? And yet, this is the very purpose of sport fishing. Relaxation and fun define a sport that can be easily defined as a catch-release game.

sports fishing

There are different ways of doing sport fishing. The reasons why people have come up with this diversity were mainlyprovided to challenge their abilities and to play the game on the fish’s ground. Thus, you should know that some of the sport fishing varieties include kayak fishing, big-game fishing, trout tickling and noodling. For example, in the case of kayak fishing people fish from stealthy sea kayaks that allow fishermen to reach areas that are unfishable from either land or from other, conventional boats. In big-game fishing the main action is carried out in boats, too, and the catch is represented by large open-water fishes such as sharks, malin or tuna. Anyway, individual fishing contests are run on land while team competitions depend on boats.

seaforth sport fishing

Regarding the beginnings of sport fishing, it is known that it got its initial rudiementary form between the 16th and 17th centuries, but big-game fishing imposed itself as a sport after the motorized boats were invented. In 1898, the marine biologist, Dr. Charles Frederick Holder created the foundation for this sport and published a number of books and articles that cover a nice blend of exciting stories and accurate scientific details.

In this article I want to share with you the best redfish fishing techniques and tips, but I want to also explain what the redfish actually is for the beginners.

First of all, let’s introduce ourselves to the topic of redfish fishing. What is refish and where you can find them? Red drum, also known as redfish, is a salt water fish which can be found along the coast of the southern USA. One can recognize them by the black spot on their tails. Redfish inhabit shallow bays and esturaries, targeting crustaceans and baitfish. They are highly valued as a recreational fish. Fisherman who specialise in these fish are called redfish anglers. Redfish anglers always take part in national tournaments that are similar to freshwater bass fishing events. There are redfish tournaments all over the gulf coast. I saw my first one on TV one Sunday morning and that was a first time I heard about redfish fishing..

For me redfish fishing is a whole world. Although I don’t live in the southern USA, I go there every year just to do redfish fishing. I always bring whole family with me and it is a lot of fun. It has become our family tradition. We all love it, because it’s both healthy, you are on a fresh air all day, and fun and it brings family together.

Ok, let’s move on to the refish fishing techniques. Red drum or redfish can be caught in many ways. Probably the most popular technique for fishing redfish is to anchor along a channel edge or shoal and bottom fish with cut peeler crab bait or other baits including, squid, cut spot, live spot and even chicken breast soaked in peeler crab oil. These are all excellent ways of catching a redfish.

In the Virginia, in areas like Pocomoke and Tangier Sounds, anglers usually look for a somewhat sharp drop and anchor so that the boat lies on the slope of the channel. This depth is only a starting point and can vary greatly.

Many anglers prefer to fish a window of opportunity that includes the last 2 hours of the incoming current and the first 2 hours of the outgoing. If this coincides with dusk, the fishing is more likely to be really good.

Other techniques for catching Virginia and Chesapeake Bay redfish include trolling large spoons in the lower bay areas.

Surf fishing is a popular way to catch Virginia redfish. Along the Atlantic beaches and around Virginia barrier islands, anglers use a fish finder or other rig and fish with baits such as whole spot, spot fillets or heads, mullet, bluefish fillets, crabs, shrimp or other baits. There is a great deal of methods in redfish fishing.

I hope you liked this introductory article to the world of redfish fishing and you will join our ever growing community. Believe me, it is incredibly funny and relaxing. You should really have a look at these wonderful redfish fishing techniques. These are the top techniques used by the pros now available to you. I’ve seen them and they are really cool. This has really changed my life.

Pontoon boats are now very popular boats on many waterways, partly because of their stability and fuel efficiency and partly because of their usefulness as fishing boats, party boats or family vessels. New pontoon boats often include some form of pontoon boat enclosure as standard equipment. If you own a pontoon boat already you might want to think about adding a pontoon boat enclosure in canvas or polyester.

There are four types of pontoon boat enclosure to choose from to suit your requirements:

• The quick weather enclosure – it has curtains attached to a bimini top that can be rolled up and down quickly if there is a sudden change in the weather

• The half enclosure – an economical way to enclose just a portion of the deck

• The slant front full pontoon enclosure to enclose the full deck area without the addition of a bimini frame

• Camper enclosure – one of these can turn your pontoon boat into an on-water camper

If you simply require shade rather than an enclosure a pontoon boat bimini cover will provide you and and your passengers with plenty of shade during summer boating trips and the bimini folds down and is stored out of the way if you'd prefer to enjoy the sunshine. A storage trunk holds the bimini top when it is folded back and not in use.

A pontoon boat playpen cover is useful when your pontoon boat is being moored or trailered, or when it is in storage. Support poles are usually included so that the cover doesn't collect rain.

Pontoon boat enclosures can be extremely versatile and a canvas pontoon boat enclosure or a polyester pontoon boat enclosure will protect you from many adverse weather conditions.

Full pontoon boat camper enclosures can be custom made to suit many purposes including fishing, family outings, entertaining, and onboard sleeping at for weekends or vacations.

When considering a pontoon boat enclosure the recommended products are Sunbrella acrylic or polyester. These products provide protection from both UV and weather.

Thanks for reading about Pontoon Boat Enclosures.

Do outdoor activities have a relaxing effect on you? If you enjoy watery leisure activities, you become the perfect candidate for a fishing trip, whether on a river or at sea. Whether you need family travel, journeys with large groups of friends or even couple expeditions, fishing trips remain among the best choices for a successful vacation which combines relaxation and rest with fun and physical activity. The majority of holiday makers, even those new to angling, expressed their high contentment with fishing trips and promised to repeat the experience.

fishing trips

Getting informed is the first preparation stage for fishing trips. After a basic search on the Internet, you'll see how many sites you come across that provide assistance for the planning of an expedition. Websites like ultimatefishingsite.net, sportfishing.org,adventureindonesia.com, bigfishtackle.com, to mention just a few, will extensively recommend nice destinations at home and abroad. They give all sorts of very practical tips about the prices for the tackle rentals, the eventual lodging necessary, the costs of tours and individual trips, but they will also fill you in on the most respectable and well reputed events organized for fishermen.

fishing trip

Many of the companies that organize fishing trips come up with all sorts of fishing opportunities like fleet fishing trips, full day outer banks fishing, full day bottom fishing, Mexican long range fishing, full day fishing, three quarter day fishing and so on. The prices and fares are somewhere between $60 and $150. Furthermore, you can add up the cost for the tackle rental that may be as high as $30 depending on the service. One other thing you may need is a list of itineraries and some guidelines on the fish species inhabiting the area you are going to. And last but not least, part of the travel offer specific to fishing-related agencies is the covering of the details for departure and arrival times with the locations discussed and communicated to the clients in advance.

fly fishing trips

Plenty of service providers try to get the attention of professional and amateurish fishermen who can't afford to have their own boats. One major element such companies do not overlook when planning family fishing trips is to take into consideration all the members of the expedition and address their peculiar needs individually. Everybody deserves to enjoy the experience and have a great time!
