If you haven’t been a hunter for very long, you may not know there are a number of regulations regarding the use of your new gear. We think all hunters should be secure and get the most out of their new hunting equipment, with that in mind, you need to adhere to the following etiquette regulations and get the most benefit from your next hunting experience:
#1: Use all weapons with care.
The first basic safety measure revolves around the simple safety precaution of always maintaining safety with a loaded gun. Be careful where you point your gun. Only point toward things that you want to kill. Make no mistake about the thing you’re shooting at when you are aiming through the gun sights. Never load a gun unless you are getting ready to take your shot. Finally, leave your finger away from the trigger until you’re ready to fire the gun. You need to treat all weapons like they are loaded. Many instances have been known in which a person believed that his/her weapon was empty in some instances with deadly results.
#2: All targets should be easy to see and identify|Make sure you can see your target plainly|Any target needs to be easy to recognize|Your target should be clearly in your sight and identifiable}.
Unless you can tell exactly what you are aiming at, don’t fire your weapon! Some have unintentionally shot other people (including children) thinking at they were looking at an animal. When you actually aim to shoot at something, make sure it is in a clearing where you can see around it. If the target is on a hillside or ridge, do not shoot since you can’t be sure what’s beyond the ridge.
#3: Familiarize yourself with up to date regulations concerning the using specified gear.
At one time, bows and arrows were an excellent option for killing game. But, it is not against the law to fire at animals with archery equipment. The only thing you may shoot at with a bow and arrow is a target.
#4: Protect yourself.
Don’t make yourself a target for a novice shooter. Use brilliant coloured clothing so you can be easily identified as a person. You should also wear ear and eye protection. The glasses will shield your eyes from gaseous substances expelled by firing the gun. The ear protection may keep you from destroying your hearing due to the loud noises produced by shooting.
#5: Pursue the game you are after in a dignified manner.
