If you are concerned about being too much anxious over leaving your child in a playground, then you shouldn’t be to because it is a sign of your protective parenthood. It is good to be concerned about your little ones playtime as much as you are about their school and sleeping time.Children are curious and children are mischievous, they have a very good capability of learning from their own mistakes. But in few cases these mistakes can be a little more dangerous. Whether it is a toddler falling from a small cycle or a teenager tripping over his first inline skates or a bigger kid going out of control on his roller hockey skates, children will always be children and they will forever need your watchful eye. With little precautions, you can ensure your children’s safety in any recreational activity they are involved in. There is a few playground safety regulations that both you and your ward shall stick to:
• The first thing to keep in mind about playground safety is that no matter what age, a child tends to get very wild in efforts to brag his skills. Adult supervision is always required, be it you or be it someone else assigned for this purpose, make sure that your children are always being looked after by an adult who can not only keep an eye for any danger your child might be going towards but also offer an immediate first aid in case of any unfortunate event.
• If your child is up for cycling or skating, check out for proper safety equipments. The most important of all equipments is the helmet but it is also vital that the knees and elbows are also properly covered. The shoes should also be comfy enough and without laces to avoid falling accidents.
• A lot of risk can be minimized by the kind of surfaces in the play area. Whether it is a play area at your own house or at your child’s school or the one in nearby area, carefully inspect that there are no hard and edgy surfaces around. The surface should be soft enough to cushion a child if he falls. Tough concrete and even soil and grass can be quite dangerous for this purpose as the water fills and small pits can cause the child to trip. The best option is to loosely fill the surface area with sand, gravel, wood chips and rubber shreds.
• Another thing to keep in mind is whether or not the play area is appropriate for your child’s age. Children of age 5-8 can find the play structures for teens pretty much exciting and thrilling but there is no way you should let them play there. Make sure that the structures are not too high for your child and there are no such spaces where a child can get his head or finger trapped.
• Lastly but importantly, teach your children to behave ethically and follow all the rules while they play. Teach them to be competitive without being aggressive. There should be no pushingor any kind of wild act in the playground. They must be prohibited to eat while they are at the playground and not to put there dirty fingers in their mouths even if they don’t look so dirty.
