All day long Levi enjoyed spending time on the court practicing his basketball shooting. He knew he was the shortest guy on the whole team and was definitely not the best player but he had decided that with enough basketball training, he could become a respectable player that the team would be proud to call their own. The positive attitude displayed by Levi caught the attention of the coach who wished that all of his players would practice as much and be as much of a team player as Levi.
It is interesting to note that sports activities and particularly team sports help build a determination in a kid and add to his set of living skills. Some of the most common and well liked sports for children include:
• Gymnastics: This is a fun sport and an interesting activity for kids to participate in due to the fact that they are constantly trying to better themselves. There are competition meets scheduled during the course of the year but the main goal of any gymnast is to better their skill and adeptness on the mats thereby competing against prior accomplishments.
• T ball and Little League: These are the beginning baseball games that children start with when they are interested in learning the game. Because it moves at a slightly slower pace than many team sports it encourages focus and coordination. Team cooperation is encouraged and of course a child can improve his batting skills by practicing in his spare time. The game of baseball is usually considered a great way to break into the world of sports and is a low pressure sort of game to participate in with other children.
• Football: This is a sport that has a slightly higher risk of injury due to the amount of contact that is necessary to play the game. This fact keeps some children from being drawn to the game either because of their small size or the fact that they do not necessarily like the idea of being tackled. A football game is full of action and memorizing the plays and running the game provide a huge amount of fun to a child who is interested in this sport.
• Hockey: This is another sport that is full of direct body contact and can be quite dangerous to play. Many times it is the larger boys who are drawn to this sport and the game can be great fun when it is played with good sportsmanship and courteous behavior. In much the same way as Football, the fans participate in an involved way about the game and respond enthusiastically toward the children.
• Soccer: The game of soccer is not only entertaining but full of action and skill. Hand eye coordination is a required in soccer and a large part of the game running is also required. Soccer is wonderful to observe from the stands or play and it is extremely popular not just in the United States but in Europe as well.
• Running track: This is a great sport that lends itself to much physical training and a winning attitude. It is also valuable to a child because it encourages behavior that results in a lifetime ability to learn the basics of running safely and it provides the opportunity to have a hobby that will give health benefits for life.
